MORE FILM SUGGESTIONS

I've recently seen trailers of 'Kingdom of Heaven', 'Star Wars', and 'War of the Worlds'. Well, I'm really looking forward to see each one of them. The first two seem to be the Kingdom on 6th May and Star Wars on 19th May . So, we'll see our Legolas-Orlando clad in armour and acting as a crusader against the great Saladin (or Salah al-Din Yusuf ibn Ayyub), the wise and noble Egyptian general - or so they say. And it's a Ridley Scott's film (remember 'Gladiator'?). I love historical films!

What to say about 'Star wars - Episode III - The Revenge of the Sith'? A 'must' for all the lovers of the saga - me being one. Look out for the evil Sith!

Finally, the big man, Spielberg, will try to fascinate us with a war of his own. Or not so. That's as perfect an occasion as any to make an assault on H G Wells' short novel with the same title 'The War of the Worlds'. I read it when I was your age - I mean, ages and ages ago. Not my favourite, but a good one. Easy to read, for lovers of an easier life it's also translated into Catalan, and even into Spanish! The you can go and see nice Tom Cruise playing the main role on 29th June. Don't forget to click on the links! And don't forget to post your comments either!

FILM SUGGESTION

Want to see lots of music and romance? Exotic places, beautiful girls and handsome boys, everybody singing and dancing? And have a good laugh? Well, I've found all this in a recent film taking place in... INDIA!! But not only India; there's a couple of good views on London, and some scenes also happen in Los Angeles. The film is called 'Bride and Prejudice' in English -you can click on the link to have a look at its web-, but has been translated as 'Bodas y prejuicios'. If you go and see it, why don't you post a comment here?

ESO-4 and Constantí

All this week we've talked about the places we live in. We've read about a small town in Alaska (Kaponuk), and heard about a big city in America (Chicago). However, I'm still curious about your opinion on living in Constantí. How do you feel about your hometown? Why don't you post a few lines telling us about it? (Hey, you can get some inpiration from page 71 in your student's book or page 61 in your workbook; and don't forget to click on the links!).

ESO-3 and The Phantom

So, you've finished reading 'The Phantom of the Opera'! What do you think happens after the story ends? I mean, what happened to the main characters? Why don't you post your comment here telling us where Christine and Raoul went and how they lived all that time? Or, you may prefer to comment on the differences between your book and the film (click on the link) we saw in January...

Hey, BAT-1, let's talk about Frankie!

Tomorrow we’re are going to watch the end of the Frankenstein film (Kenneth Branagh’s 1994 version) with the BAT-1 class. I hope you enjoy it – I think I like it more now than the first time I saw it. Maybe I’ve got a better understanding of the story, and the background to the story, after all these years. Anyhow, why don’t you tell me what you think about that version compared with your reader version? OK, after I get enough comments from you, I promise to list some interesting web addresses to prepare for the test on the reader.

My happy birthday.

Secondly, I’d also wish to thank the ESO-3 students for spontaneously singing ‘Happy Birthday’ last Friday when their teacher came into the classroom - I could hardly ‘hold back my tears’. Thanks to the ESO-4 students for remembering my birthday as well.

Thank you for your postcards!

First things first: I wish to thank the ESO-4 and BAT-1 students very much for sending those nice postcards from Paris. I found them all very well chosen (the Opera Garnier ones where really touching, you know why), and very well written too. I must also thank Tere and Rosa for encouraging the ESO-4 and BAT-1 students to send the postcards. Finally, thank you Ester, for that special postcard from Egypt, how exotic! Thank you everybody! I hope you can enjoy some samples here in no time - I'm just learning how to post them. In the meantime, what do you think about having the complete collection on the board in the language classroom?

Welcome to a new era at the IES de Constantí!

Hi everybody! Be welcome to our place in the Internet to use English from Constantí. I hope everybody finds it useful, and takes interest in participating very soon. You can start telling us how you feel about the English lessons at our school, or exchanging your impressions about your reader (The Phantom, Dracula, Frankenstein, 1984), or making a nice remark on your teacher's obsession for 'paragraphs'... OK, I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
